| DVD Player |  A DVD player is a very popular source for a stereo at home theatre system as it can play CDs and DVDs, some of them can even play MP3, WMA, JPEG, WMV, Video CD and DivX discs. There is a big amount of DVD players which varies a lot in price and characteristics. Their price starts from $100 to as much as $1000.
All DVD players are able to play DVD Video discs which include movies, concerts, TV shows, etc. There are also DVD players which can play DVD Audio discs. They provide higher quality audio tracks usually accompanied by stationary images instead the video.
DVD players’ video features:
- Progressive scan. DVD players offer the best picture quality when are used with a television that have modern scan capability.
- Video Outputs. It is possible to single out four types of video outputs on a DVD player. They are HDMI outputs, S-Video, composite and component videos.
DVD players’ audio features:
 - Audio Decoders. There are Dolby Digital and DTS decoders built-in some DVD players. Those which do not have such decoders rely on the receiver to decode the audio tracks on a disc.
- Ilink. It provides a digital connection between the DVD player and receiver for DVD-Audio, SACD and other high quality audio sources.
- Six-Channel analog outputs are used for reading multichannel HD-DVD, DVD-Audio, Blu-ray and SACD discs if there is a built in decoder for these formats in the player. This analog outputs connect to relevant analog inputs on a receiver.
